During the registration process for this board, each user agrees – in advance - to the Terms of Service. Below is a brief explanation of those Terms.
(The text in bold black is the original wording from the Terms of Service.)
“You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law.
This sentence with its full list looks like it must be referring to horrible, mean, nasty posts – posts that would be immediately recognizable as BAD! However, this list is also intended to address posts that would perhaps require a judgment call.
“Defamatory,” for example, would include posts that express a derogatory statement, opinion or judgment of another person, whether it be another poster, a CFPC staff member, or a member of the general public. “Inaccurate” would, perhaps, be determined after additional research, but as stated later in the Terms, is difficult to monitor. “Abusive” or “harassing” could possibly be established through a series of posts rather than a single one.
In any case, the judgment call is ours to make. Posts that we feel meet the spirit and intention of this provision will be deleted without notice or explanation to the poster.
You also agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material.
It’s okay to post links to information on other websites but not okay to copy and paste information from copyrighted materials.
Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to this forum.
Though this provision clearly states that solicitations are inappropriate, we do allow the posting of links to other websites and the posting of information that is designed to be helpful for parents. For example, we do allow “advertisements” about free events or services for parents (such as support group meetings or training workshops). Other posts which highlight services that do have related costs (such as a listing of summer camps or upcoming conferences) would be allowed on a case-by-case basis.
Solicitations for money and/or goods or services with monetary value are absolutely not appropriate for this forum and will be deleted without notice or explanation.
Note that it is impossible for us to confirm the validity of posts on this forum. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the posted messages and are not responsible for their content. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any information presented.
We could design this message board to be “fully monitored,” meaning that ALL posts must be “allowed” by a staff member before they actually appear for the public to read. How much fun would that be for everyone?! Plus, we honestly just don’t have the time or manpower for that level of monitoring. Also, please remember that the posters on this Board – including the staff members – are not attorneys – nor are they doctors – so do not construe any posts to be intended as legal or medical advice.
The messages express the views of the author, not necessarily the views of this forum. Anyone who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to notify an administrator of this forum immediately.
The administrators are: Diane (diane@CFLparents.org) and Eileen (eileen@CFLparents.org).
We have the rights to remove objectionable content, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately. This policy goes for member profile information as well.
